HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN - J.K. ROWLING

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Pg 434

"What's that?" he snarled, staring at the envelope Harry was still clutching in his hand. "If it's another form for me to sign, you've got another---"  "It's not," said Harry cheerfully. "It's a letter from my godfather."   "Godfather?" sputtered Uncle Vernon. "You haven't got a godfather!"  "Yes, I have," said Harry brightly. "He was my mum and dad's best friend. He's a convicted murderer, but he's broken out of wizard prisoner and he's on the run. He likes to keep in touch with me, though... keep up with my news... check if I'm happy...."  And, grinning broadly at the look of horror on Uncle Vernon's face, Harry set off toward the station exit, Hedwig rattling along in front of him, for what looked like a much better summer than the last.

"It was stupid, thinking it was him," he muttered. "I mean, I knew he was dead."  "You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him. How else could you produce that particular Patronus? Prongs rode again last night.... You know, Harry, in a way, you did see your father last night.... You found him inside yourself."

Hagrid was not crying, nor did he throw himself upon their necks. He looked like a man who did not know where he was or what to do. This helplessness was worse to watch than tears.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Pg 312

Harry had a confused impression of noise and bodies pressing in on him. Then he, and the rest of the team, were hoisted onto the shoulders of the crown. Thrust into the light, he saw Hagrid, plastered with crimson rosettes---"Yeh beat 'em, Harry, yeh beat 'em! Wait till I tell Buckbeak!" There was Percy, jumping up and down like a maniac, all dignity forgotten. Professor McGonagall was sobbing harder even than Wood, wiping her eyes with an enormous Gryffindor flag; and there, fighting their way toward Harry, were Ron and Hermione. Words failed them. They simply beamed as Harry was borne toward the stands, where Dumbledore stood waiting with the enormous Quidditch Cup.

Harry slept badly. First he dreamed that he had overslept, and that Wood was yelling, "Where were you? We had to use Neville instead!" Then he dreamed that Malfoy and the rest of the Slytherin team arrived for the match riding dragons. He was flying at breakneck speed, trying to avoid a spurt of flames from Malfoy's steed's mouth, when he realized he had forgotten his Firebolt. He fell through the air and woke with a start.

Ron had taken over responsibility for Buckbeack's appeal. When he wasn't doing his own work, he was poring over enormously thick volumes with names like The Handbook of Hippogriff Psychology and Fowl or Foul? A Study of Hippogriff Brutality. He was so absorbed, he even forgot to be horrible to Crookshanks.

"Yeh can' really remember who yeh are after a while. An' yeh can' see the point o' livin' at all. I used ter hope I'd jus' die in me sleep.... When they let me out, it was like bein' born again, ev'rythin' came floodin' back, it was the bes' feelin' in the world."

Unbidden, the image of the beast in the shadows of Magnolia Crescent crossed his mind. What to do when you know the worst is coming....  "I'm not going to be murdered," Harry said out loud.  "That's the spirit, dear," said his mirror sleepily.

He had the Invisibility Cloak he had inherited from his father---what if he bewitched the trunk to make it feather-light, tied it to his broomstick, covered himself in the cloak, and flew to London? Then he could get the rest of his money out of his vault and.. begin his life as an outcast. It was a horrible prospect, but he couldn't sit on this wall forever, or he'd find himself trying to explain to Muggle police why he was out in the dead of night with a trunkful of spellbooks and a broomstick.

Harry---this is a Pocket Sneakoscope. If there's someone untrustworthy around, it's supposed to light up and spin. Bill says it's rubbish sold for wizard tourists and isn't reliable, because it kept lighting up at dinner last night. But he didn't realize Fred and George had put beetles in his soup.
Bye - Ron

HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS - J.K. ROWLING

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 338

Lucius Malfoy stood frozen, staring at the elf. Then he lunged at Harry.  "You've lost me my servant, boy!"   But Dobby shouted, "You shall not harm Harry Potter!"  There was a loud bang, and Mr. Malfoy was thrown backward. He crashed down the stairs, three at a time, landing in a crumpled heap on the landing below. He got up, his face livid, and pulled out his wand, but Dobby raised a long, threatening finger.   "You shall go now," he said fiercely, pointing down at Mr. Malfoy. "You shall not touch Harry Potter. You shall go now."

"Ginny!" said Mr. Weasly, flabbergasted. "Haven't I taught you anything? What have I always told you? Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain!"

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 321

"So ends the famous Harry Potter," said Riddle's distant voice. "Alone in the Chamber of Secrets, forsaken by his friends, defeated at last by the Dark Lord he so unwisely challenged. You'll be back with your dear Mudblood mother soon, Harry.... She bought you twelve years of borrowed time.... but Lord Voldemort got you in the end, as you knew he must...."

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 310

"Dear Tom, I think I'm losing my memory. There are rooster feathers all over my robes and I don't know how they got there. Dear Tom, I can't remember what I did on the night of Halloween, but a cat was attacked and I've got paint all down my front. Dear Tom, Percy keeps telling me I'm pale and I'm not myself. I think he suspects me.... There was another attack today and I don't know where I was. Tom, what am I going to do? I think I'm going mad.... I think I'm the one attacking everyone, Tom!"

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 310

"If I say it myself, Harry, I've always been able to charm the people I needed. So Ginny poured out her soul to me, and her soul happened to be exactly what I wanted.... I grew stronger and stronger on a diet of her deepest fears, her darkest secrets."

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 270

Lockhart's disgusting cheeriness, his hints that he had always thought Hagrid was no good, his confidence that the whole business was now at an end, irritated Harry so much that he yearned to throw Gadding with Ghouls right in Lockhart's stupid face. Instead he contented himself with scrawling a not to Ron: Let's do it tonight.  Ron read the message, swallowed hard, and looked sideways at the empty seat usually filled by Hermione. The sight seemed to stiffen his resolve, and he nodded.

"What's up?" said Harry.  "I---don't---like---spiders," said Ron tensely.  "I never knew that," said Hermione, looking at Ron in surprise. "You've used spiders in Potions loads of times...."  "I don't mind them dead," said Ron, who was carefully looking anywhere but at the window. " I just don't like the way they move...."  Hermione giggled.  "It's not funny," said Ron, fiercely. "If you must know, when I was three, Fred turned my---my teddy bear into a great big filthy spider because I broke his toy broomstick.... You wouldn't like them either if you'd been holding your bear and suddenly it had too many legs...."

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Pg 151

There was silence as he finished telling the story, but it wasn't the usual, sleepy silence that filled Professor Binns's classes. There was unease in the air as everyone continued to watch him, hoping for more. Professor Binns looked faintly annoyed.
